Our History

In 1908, the Lee family had originally settled in California's Central Valley from China.

In 1938, Bill Lee's Bamboo Chopsticks opened its doors in Bakersfield, California by Bill Lee. It has been family-owned and operated ever since by four generations of the Lee family.

In 1955, Bill Lee's provided one of the first and few restaurant home delivery services.

In 1965, the restaurant expanded to include a full-service bar and cocktail loung where the World Famous Bill Lee's Frozen Mai Tai was born.

Today we are proud to continue to serve Bakersfield and welcome you to join us for lunch and dinner seven days a week.
